          Applicants who took a leave from studies at Huron and are on good standing can contact Academic Advising and request to be reactivated as a student.

          APPLICATIONS SEEKING READMISSION

          Applicants seeking readmission to Huron following withdrawal for unsatisfactory academic standing will need to complete a regular application through the Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC). In addition to completing an application through OUAC, students will need to complete the Reconsideration of Admission form.

          If granted readmission, you may register for a session that commences no earlier than one calendar year (12 months) from the time of withdrawal.

          Please Note: Readmission is not guaranteed.

          The below scholarships are organized in two sections, Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents (CC or PR) and International Students/ Student Visa (INTL).  Scholarships are applied to tuition and residence fees first. To receive a scholarship, you must be a full-time continuing student.

          Automatic Entrance Scholarships (CC or PR)

          Canadian high school applicants with a final admission average* of 82.0% or higher are guaranteed an automatic entrance award from Huron.

          Final admission average is calculated using admission requirements (including any required courses for the program to which the student has applied) for courses completed.

          Hellmuth Scholarships (Full tuition and fees, up to 10 available, renewable for up to four years) 

          • Academic excellence with a mid-year average of 90% or higher
          • Demonstrated passion for student life through community leadership, volunteer service, passion for arts, athletics, etc. 
          • Applicants are required to be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident 
          • Application deadline: February 15, 2021.

          Hellmuth scholarships are renewable for up to four years provided that you maintain a minimum overall average of 80% in a minimum of 5.0 credits each year prior.

          Huron Scholars Group: 

          All Hellmuth Scholarship winners are guaranteed their choice of building and room within Huron's residences and automatically become members of the "Huron Scholars Group". This group brings together high achieving students who hold renewable entrance scholarships and senior scholarships at Huron. Members of the group are invited to a September reception and are kept informed of extra-curricular activities, award competitions, graduate application workshops, and other opportunities.

          Hellmuth Scholarship Application Form

          $8,000 - 1 available for first year; can reapply for upper years

          • Applicants are required to have been offered AEO status and demonstrate financial need

          Gary Barnes Scholarship Form 

          Frank Holmes Academic Athlete Scholarships  (CC or PR)

          TWO AVAILABLE: Two, two-year renewable scholarships are awarded annually, one each to a male and female full-time Huron student who is registered on a Western Varsity Athletic team.     

          $4,500 per year 

          Eligibility:

          • Applicants are required to have an admission average of 80% or higher as calculated by Huron and to be registered on a varsity athletic team at Western. 
          • Application deadline: June 1, 2020

          Frank Holmes Academic Athlete Scholarship Form

          Specialist High Skills Major Scholarships (CC or PR)

          $2,000 - One-time Scholarship (4 available per school board, non-renewable) 

          Must graduate from one of the following majors: 

          • Arts & Culture
          • Business
          • Non-Profit
          • Health and Wellness 
          International Certificate Program Scholarship

          $2,000 Unlimited number available, non-renewable

          • Automatic award given to each full-time Huron student who has graduated from the International Certificate Program. 
          Alberta Scholarship (CC)

          We will be awarding the highest achieving Alberta student with an additional $2,500 award. This is non-renewable, and will be awarded starting in September 2020.

          Manitoba Scholarship (CC)

          We will be awarding the highest achieving Manitoba student with an additional $3,000 award. This is non-renewable, and will be awarded starting in September 2020.

          National Scholarship

          $1,000 Unlimited number available, non-renewable

          • Applying from a Canadian high school outside of Ontario 
          Commonwealth Scholarships (INTL)

          $5,000 Unlimited number available, non-renewable 

          • Automatic award given to each full-time International Huron student who is a Commonwealth citizen
          • No supplemental application is required for this scholarship; you will automatically be assessed for the Commonwealth Scholarship during the application process to any Huron program and any scholarships awarded will be stated on your Offer of Admission letter. 
          International Automatic Entrance Scholarships (INTL)

          Up to $60,000 ($15,000/year) 

          • All international students applying to Huron will automatically be assessed for scholarships valued between $4,000 to $60,000 over four years, based on their academic results. 
          • Extra-curricular achievements may also be submitted for consideration

          Automatic entrance scholarships are renewable for up to four years provided that you maintain a minimum overall average of 80% in a minimum of 5.0 credits each year prior.

          International Presidential Scholarships (INTL)

          Huron awards up to 10 International Presidential Scholarships valued at $100,000 ($25,000/year) over four years to outstanding entering students.

          • Academic excellence with a mid-year average of 90% or higher on Huron's grading scale;
          • Demonstrated passion for student life through community leadership, volunteer service, passion for arts, athletics etc;

          International Presidential scholarships are renewable for up to four years provided that you maintain a minimum overall average of 80% in a minimum of 5.0 credits each year prior.

          Huron Scholars Group:

          Frank Holmes Academic Athlete Scholarships

          TWO AVAILABLE: Two two-year renewable scholarships are awarded annually, one each to a male and female full-time Huron student who is registered on a Western Varsity Athletic team.     

          Value: Up to $4,500 per year 

          Eligibility: This scholarship competition is open to all full-time Huron students who are registered on a Western Varsity Athletic team. 

          Senior students entering Years 2-4 must be registered in a full-time program at Huron (5.0 courses taken during the regular academic year - September to April); have achieved a 70.0% or better average in their previous year of study; and be registered on a university-level, intercollegiate athletic team at Western University.

          The Allan Donald Scholarship and Bursary Fund  

          Awarded to a full-time registered second, third or fourth-year Huron student who has achieved 80% or more in his or her previous year of study and who has also demonstrated financial need based on criteria established by Huron and administered by its Financial Aid office. The successful student will be pursuing an Honours Specialization leading to a degree either in Economics or in Management and Organizational Studies. 

          This scholarship is awarded solely on academic excellence. No application is required. The Student Awards Committee will determine the appropriate recipients. The recipients will receive a notification by email.

          The BMO Financial Group Scholarship

          Awarded to the student who achieves the highest average in second year (except for holders of National or Hellmuth Scholarships).

          This scholarship is awarded solely on academic excellence. No application is required. The Student Awards Committee will determine the appropriate recipients. The recipients will receive a notification by email.

          The Doris and Owen Foster Scholarship

          Value: $500
           
          Established in 1998, this scholarship is awarded to a senior student at Huron with priority given to students with a learning disability and the highest average (minimum 75%) over four full courses in the previous year of study. If no student with a learning disability qualifies for the scholarship, it will be awarded to a senior student of high academic standing who has demonstrated outstanding contributions to community service. The grandson of Mr. & Mrs. Foster, Scott Foster graduated from Huron in 2001.

          The Duncanson Family Scholarship in History

          Awarded to the student with the highest first-year average entering second year and majoring in History (not receiving a National or Hellmuth Scholarship).  This scholarship is renewable for up to two years, provided the recipient achieves an average of 75% or higher in 5.0 courses. 

          This scholarship is awarded solely on academic excellence. No application is required. The Student Awards Committee will determine the appropriate recipients. The recipients will receive a notification by email.

          The Frank P. Leahy Second-Year Scholarship

          The Great Minds, Great Hearts Scholarship (3 available)

          Value: $1,700  

          Three scholarships are awarded to senior students judged according to the following areas: 1) academic achievement; 2) involvement in student life at Huron University College and /or Western University; 3) volunteer or community service; 4) commitment to athletics or the arts; 5) Huron citizenship. This scholarship competition is open to full-time Huron students and entering second, third, and fourth years in 2019-2020, with an 80% average or better. 

          Funded in the Great Minds, Great Hearts Capital Campaign by student contributions from 1999 to 2003.

          The John and Barbara Wood Business 2257 Scholarship

          The Most Rev. Terence E. Finlay and Alice Jean Finlay Award for Community Leadership (2 available)

          Value: $1,500 

          The Most Rev. Terence E. and Alice Jean Finlay Award for Community Leadership celebrates the remarkable contributions of Terry and AJ to the communities they have served with such distinction throughout their lives. Terry had both arts and theology degrees from Huron (1959 and 1962), and AJ is a Western grad (1962). The Award in their name is made each year to two Huron undergraduate arts students in their second, third or fourth years of study who, while at Huron, have become engaged in volunteer service to the broader community and exemplify the values of outreach, compassion and concern for others which the Finlays have personified in their own lives. To apply, you must be a full-time Huron student returning to Huron in 2019-2020.

          The Scotiabank Second-Year Scholarship  

          Awarded to the student entering second-year Honours (any program), with highest average in first year.

          This scholarship is awarded solely on academic excellence. No application is required. The Student Awards Committee will determine the appropriate recipients. The recipients will receive a notification by email.

          The Seanna and Nicole Strongman Scholarship (3 available)

          Value: $2,500 

          There are three scholarships offered in the program, for second, third and fourth year students respectively. The Seanna and Nicole Strongman Memorial Scholarships recognize “all round” student achievement, in additional to providing financial assistance at a time when that support is more important than ever. 

          The scholarships are awarded to students who, on the completion of their first, second or third year of study, are judged highest in the following five equally weighted categories: 1) academic achievement; 2) Huron citizenship; 3) community service; 4) involvement in athletics and the arts; 5) leadership. 

          To apply, you must be a full-time Huron student returning to Huron in 2019-2020. For senior scholarships, first-class standing is defined as a minimum average of 80% on no less than the equivalent of five full-year courses taken between September and April. 

          The endowment in the Vancouver Foundation was established in 1993 by the Strongman family in the names of their daughters, Seanna and Nicole, who, at the ages of 15 and 11 respectively, died tragically on December 31, 1982, in a motor vehicle accident. Their father, Mr. W. Gerald Strongman graduated from Huron in 1963, and was later appointed National Chairperson of the Huron College Parents’ Association. The scholarships provide a meaningful tribute to the memory of Seanna and Nicole.

          The Godsoe Family Scholarship of Distinction

          Awarded to two students entering the third year of an Honours program in History, Economics, or Combined Honours History or Economics, who have achieved minimum 80% average in second year. Renewable for one year if recipient maintains a minimum average of 80% in 5.0 courses, and remains in an Honours program. 
           
          Awarded to two students entering a third year of an Honours program in English, Philosophy, or Combined Honours English or Philosophy, who have achieved minimum 80% average in second year. Renewable for one year if recipient maintains a minimum average of 80% in 5.0 courses, and remains in an Honours program.

          This scholarship is awarded solely on academic excellence. No application is required. The Student Awards Committee will determine the appropriate recipients. The recipients will receive a notification by email.

          The John Cronyn Third-Year Scholarship

          Awarded to the student entering the third year of any Honours or Combined Honours program, with highest first-class standing in second year, and with some Economics courses on her/his record.

          This scholarship is awarded solely on academic excellence. No application is required. The Student Awards Committee will determine the appropriate recipients. The recipients will receive a notification by email.

          The HUC Corporation International Scholarship in Honours Economics

          Awarded to three DUFE/Huron 2+2 students entering Year 3 of the 2+2 Program in Honours Economics.  This scholarship is renewable for one year, provided the recipients achieve a minimum average of 80%.  Recipients are selected based on criteria determined by DUFE.

          The Most Rev. Terence E. Finlay and Alice Jean Finlay Award for Community Leadership (2 available)

          Value: $1,500 

          The Most Rev. Terence E. and Alice Jean Finlay Award for Community Leadership celebrates the remarkable contributions of Terry and AJ to the communities they have served with such distinction throughout their lives. Terry had both arts and theology degrees from Huron (1959 and 1962), and AJ is a Western grad (1962). The Award in their name is made each year to two Huron undergraduate arts students in their second, third or fourth years of study who, while at Huron, have become engaged in volunteer service to the broader community and exemplify the values of outreach, compassion and concern for others which the Finlays have personified in their own lives.           THE SEANNA AND NICOLE STRONGMAN SCHOLARSHIP (3 AVAILABLE)

          Value: $2,500 

          There are three scholarships offered in the program, for second, third and fourth year students respectively. The Seanna and Nicole Strongman Memorial Scholarships recognize “all round” student achievement, in additional to providing financial assistance at a time when that support is more important than ever. 

          The scholarships are awarded to students who, on the completion of their first, second or third year of study, are judged highest in the following five equally weighted categories: 1) academic achievement; 2) Huron citizenship; 3) community service; 4) involvement in athletics and the arts; 5) leadership. 

          To apply, you must be a full-time Huron student returning to Huron in 2019-2020. For senior scholarships, first-class standing is defined as a minimum average of 80% on no less than the equivalent of five full-year courses taken between September and April. 

          The endowment in the Vancouver Foundation was established in 1993 by the Strongman family in the names of their daughters, Seanna and Nicole, who, at the ages of 15 and 11 respectively, died tragically on December 31, 1982, in a motor vehicle accident. Their father, Mr. W. Gerald Strongman graduated from Huron in 1963, and was later appointed National Chairperson of the Huron College Parents’ Association. The scholarships provide a meaningful tribute to the memory of Seanna and Nicole.

          Senior Scholarships are available to students in second year or above in a variety of programs.  Scholarships are applied to tuition and residence fees first.           The Allan Donald Scholarship and Bursary Fund  

          Awarded to a full-time registered second, third or fourth-year Huron student who has achieved 80% or more in his or her previous year of study and who has also demonstrated financial need based on criteria established by Huron and administered by its Financial Aid office. The successful student will be pursuing an Honours Specialization leading to a degree either in Economics or in Management and Organizational Studies. 

          This scholarship is awarded solely on academic excellence. No application is required. The Student Awards Committee will determine the appropriate recipients. The recipients will receive a notification by email.

          The Dr. Don Melady and Mr. Rowley Mossop Diversity Scholarship

          Value: $1,900  

          The scholarship is awarded to a fourth-year student registered full-time at Huron who has maintained a minimum B average in their second and third years, and whose career at Huron has been marked by a conspicuous dedication to the value of openness, the acceptance of difference, and the promotion of diversity in Canadian society. Dr. Don Melady, a Huron alumnus, class of 1981, and his partner Mr. Rowley Mossop, established this scholarship in 2004 on the occasion of their marriage.

          THE DAVID H.M. STEWART MEMORIAL Graduation AWARD

          Value: $600 

          Established by the friends and family of the late David H.M. Stewart, a former member of Huron’s Executive Board who died in 1988, this Award is presented at Spring Convocation to the graduating student with the highest overall achievement. The Award is given on the basis of high academic performance combined with outstanding contributions through extra-curricular activities to Huron and Western University. 

          This scholarship is awarded solely on academic excellence. No application is required. The Student Awards Committee will determine the appropriate recipients. The recipients will receive a notification by email.
           

          THE GREAT MINDS, GREAT HEARTS SCHOLARSHIP (3 AVAILABLE)

          Value: $1,700  

          Three scholarships are awarded to senior students judged according to the following areas: 1) academic achievement; 2) involvement in student life at Huron University College and /or Western University; 3) volunteer or community service; 4) commitment to athletics or the arts; 5) Huron citizenship. This scholarship competition is open to full-time Huron students and entering second, third, and fourth years in 2019-2020, with an 80% average or better. 

          Funded in the Great Minds, Great Hearts Capital Campaign by student contributions from 1999 to 2003.

          The Kevin M. Cunliffe Fourth-Year Scholarship

          Value: $1,000 

          Friends and family established this scholarship in 1992 in honour of Kevin Cunliffe (1969-1991), a Combined Honors History and Political Science student at the time of his death. It is awarded to a non-scholarship full-time Huron student entering the fourth year of an Honors program at Huron. The recipient will have shown a sustained improvement in overall academic performance over his or her previous three years of university study and have contributed actively to enhancing the student community life of Huron.

          The London Life Fourth-Year Scholarship in Management and Organizational Studies

          Awarded to a Management and Organizational Studies student entering fourth year, with first-class standing in third year of the MOS program.

          The Doris and Owen Foster Scholarship

          Value: $500
           
          Established in 1998, this scholarship is awarded to a senior student at Huron with priority given to students with a learning disability and the highest average (minimum 75%) over four full courses in the previous year of study. If no student with a learning disability qualifies for the scholarship, it will be awarded to a senior student of high academic standing who has demonstrated outstanding contributions to community service. The grandson of Mr. & Mrs. Foster, Scott Foster graduated from Huron in 2001.

          MTS/MDiv Prizes, Awards, & Scholarships:

          16 scholarships, prizes, and awards are awarded automatically by the Faculty of Theology Committee to MDiv & MTS students and are usually announced at the end of the school year. .Prizes range from $150 to $3,000.  Scholarships are applied to tuition and residence fees first. To receive a scholarship, you must be a full-time continuing student.

          Graduate Government Scholarships: OGS, SSHRC: 

          These substantial competitive Canadian and Ontario Government scholarships are available each year.

          Paula Menzies-Cameron (SGPS, Western) will be in the Huron Library Breakout Room on Wednesday October 16, 2019, 12:30-2:00pm to facilitate a workshop for students who are applying to graduate school and seeking funding through OGS and CGS-M scholarships.  Drop by even for a part of this session!
           

          OGS (Ontario Graduate Scholarship): 

          This $15,000 scholarship is for those in, or moving to, a graduate master's or doctoral degree. Apply between October 1, 2019 and January 24, 2020 if you are a current Western graduate student remaining at Western or applying to a Western graduate program.  Otherwise, contact the university where you plan to take your graduate degree.  Deadlines are set by individual universities.  

          Western’s online application opens October 1, 2019.  Western’s online application closes January 24, 2020, 4 pm (for new applications) Western’s online application for those with applications in progress before January 24, closes January 31, 2020, 4 pm.
